Two men and a woman are wearing signs that say yes, with Jesus standing behind them. This represents saying yes to at least five ways you can bless others

Summary

This devotional challenges believers to pursue five intentional “streams of blessing” through which God uses them to impact others. Effective ministry begins by discovering God-given abilities, passions, and opportunities rather than staying busy. Fruitful service requires patience, persistence, and wise stewardship of time and resources. Salvation is Christ in us, while ministry is Christ working through us to multiply influence for God’s kingdom.

The Vision of Five Streams of Blessing

If we each had five ways God uses us to touch the lives of others for His kingdom, the world would be a better place. For example, we might coach a kids’ sport, teach a home Bible study, volunteer at a food bank, help support a child in Haiti, and tithe to a local church.

That is five streams of blessing. How can we do that?

Discovering Your God-Given Uniqueness

It begins with exploring our uniqueness. We should not just volunteer to serve in the first five opportunities. Being busy is not the goal.

It is to discover and do the good works God created us in Christ Jesus to do (Ephesians 2:10). That will give us both the most fruit for our labors and the most joy.

Consider your unique blend of spiritual and natural abilities from God, your personality, and your desires. To what people can you most easily relate? I relate best to high school and older age groups, not young children.

For whom do you have the most compassion? Mine is greatest for those who lack assurance of salvation or do not know how to follow Jesus.

What do you do well? Never be content with how well you do whatever you do best. Seek continual improvement.

Finding Your Ministry Sweet Spot

I write and teach to simplify and communicate biblical truths. That is the ministry sweet spot God has most blessed in my life.

Patience and Persistence in Service

If you have a passion for a ministry but are not receiving positive feedback from others, be patient. Don’t quit. My first Bible class was a total disaster!

How can you unlock your ministry potential to serve others and advance God’s kingdom? I write two blogs weekly to communicate the basics of the Christian faith. I post them daily on my Christian Growth Resources Facebook page.

Persistence is essential in ministry. Don’t expect immediate applause or gratitude.

I reached no one in the first six months of posting blogs on Facebook. I learned how to do it better.

I promote a blog post, “Jesus Is Lord,” on Facebook. I have learned how to increase the number of people responding to it.

I constructed a Christian Growth Resources website with free spiritual growth resources. I have modified it many times to make it more effective.

I compiled and organized my blog posts into a book, “His Power for Your Weakness.” God is using it through pastors in Africa to teach the basics of the Christian faith in a language I cannot speak to more people than I ever imagined.

Multiplying Impact Through Faithful Stewardship

The challenge is to be the best possible manager of the time, talent, energy, and financial resources God has entrusted to us and multiply the streams of blessing while maintaining a balanced life.

Jesus in Us and Jesus Through Us

Salvation is about Jesus in us. Ministry is about Jesus through us. I challenge you to aim for five streams of blessing! See additional free spiritual growth resources for Christians.

God has empowered me to write His Power for Your Weakness—260 Steps Toward Spiritual Strength. It’s a free, evangelistic, devotional, and discipleship e-book. Pastors have used it in Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia to lead 7,541 people to Christ and teach the basics of Christianity to 17,361 people. I invite you to explore and use it in your setting.
