Jesus with light radiating from His being illustrating that He is Lord.

Jesus is Lord when your fear overcomes your faith (Mark 4:35-41). After a full day of teaching the multitudes, Jesus wanted to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee to rest. He sat in the back of the boat and quickly fell asleep while His disciples piloted it.

Unexpectedly, a violent storm whitecapped the sea. It became a churning fury. Waves drenched everyone. The boat was sinking. Jesus was still sleeping.

The disciples woke Him. They were angry and afraid. Why didn’t Jesus care that they were about to drown?

Jesus commanded the wind and sea to hush. Calmness reigned in the blinking of an eye. Jesus rescued His disciples despite their fear and unbelief.

Because Jesus is Lord, most of what you fear will not happen. Faith brings peace. Fear brings torment. Which will you choose?

When Jesus and His disciples arrived at the eastern shore, a demon-possessed man, naked and out of control, met them. Jesus cast his demons out but permitted them to enter 2,000 pigs grazing on the mountainside.

Immediately, the herd stampeded into the lake and drowned. Jesus came to free you from the devil’s deadly influence that drove those pigs into the sea.

Fear sometimes prevents faith. The people living in the region of the Gerasenes feared Jesus. They begged Him to leave (Mark 5:17).

Are you afraid of Jesus? It does not make sense to bolt your heart’s door against the One who alone brings life, peace, and wholeness.

Jesus is also Lord when your faith is great (Mark 5:25-34). After returning to the lake, Jesus met a man named Jairus. His daughter was near death.

On the way to Jairus’ house, Jesus encountered a woman with a 12-year medical problem. Doctors could not help her. Her bleeding made her ceremonially unclean.

In desperation, she approached Jesus secretly. She believed touching His garment would heal her. She did and quickly retreated.

Jesus knew healing energy had gone out of Him. He asked who had touched His clothes. She fell at His feet and told the story of her healing. Jesus told her that healing had come because of her faith in Him.

If you are a Christian, you have experienced spiritual healing. Like the woman, are you hiding it? Who should you tell?

Jesus is Lord when God tests your faith (Mark 5:21-24, 35-43). Jairus waited while the bleeding woman took Jesus’ attention. Her life-changing experience was his trial.

While they waited, news arrived that Jairus’ daughter was dead. Jesus told Jairus not to be afraid, but to keep believing.

When Jesus raised his daughter to life, those present were beside themselves with amazement. Jesus is Lord over death and every lesser realm. God uses your problems to stretch your faith. What is your takeaway?
