God Empowers Us to Be Overcomers Who Obey and Trust Him

A better understanding of God strengthens our faith. A better understanding of ourselves reveals how dependent we are on Him.

We cannot live the Christian life and make an eternal impact on others without God’s enabling. It comes to us by faith in the measure required at the moment of need. We cannot store it.

John extends God’s grace and peace to seven churches in what is now Türkiye. Grace, like liquid Jello, takes the shape of our needs.

God empowers us to trust, obey, and love Him and others as ourselves. Peace is full of wholeness and health.

The eternal Father holds us in His hands. He is in charge. He is the beginning and end of everything. He is the source of creation and history. He started it. He is going to end it.

Everything passes through His hands before it comes into our lives. All of it works together for our good (Romans 8:28). His hand is on us and our circumstances. That frees us from panic.

The Spirit and the Son help us. The seven spirits refer to the complete and perfect work of the Holy Spirit. He is the second source of grace and peace. Jesus Christ is the third.

The Bible calls Jesus Christ the faithful witness. His faithful witness to the truth from God cost Him His life. Like Him, we must never compromise the truth.

Jesus is the first one to rise from the dead to die no more. He is also the highest rank of those whom the Father will raise from the dead with supreme authority over them.

He is the prince of the kings of the earth. The devil offered Him a painless way to be that (Matthew 4:8-10). He refused it.

Instead, He chose faithful obedience that led to death. His suffering led to glory.

Someday, every knee will bow to Him, and every tongue will confess that He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Through His death and resurrection, He gives us victory. The last part of Revelation 1:5 and all of 1:6 is a song of praise to Him.

Jesus took our sins upon Himself on the cross so we could be priests in His kingdom. That kingdom includes all who serve Him and in whose hearts He rules. As priests, we pray to God for the world and witness what God has done for us.

Jesus will return to earth in awe-inspiring majesty. All unbelievers will mourn because of the judgment He will bring upon them.

John rejoices that God will overthrow the wicked and vindicate persecuted Christians. Good will triumph. Only God’s power can make us overcomers. What is your takeaway?
