Your Judgment Day Resume

A political candidate interviewing a potential campaign manager said, “Everything you wrote in your resume is a lie…. I can use you! Can you start on Monday?” Many resumes are about as truthful as political ads. Who knew so many supermen and wonder women walked on planet earth!

Seriously, your resume is the polished story of your skills, accomplishments, and experience. You portray yourself in the best possible light so a perspective employer will reward you with a job offer.

On Judgment Day, Jesus will review your unpolished, unpadded resume. Lies and exaggerations will not be part of it. Nothing will be excluded. You must give an account of and fire will test how you used your time, talents, energy, and resources (Romans 14:12) to love and serve God and others cheerfully. The complete picture of your earthly life will be revealed for what it was (1 Corinthians 3:13) – what you did and why you did it.

Matthew 25:31-46 explain what will be important at the Final Judgment. Instead of your making a case on earth why you should get the job before you get the reward, it is the exact opposite. First, the Lord Jesus announces the reward: “Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world” (Matthew 25:34, NIV). Then he gives the reason for the reward. It turns out you write your resume unknowingly without a pen or pencil, and He records and reads it. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me' (Matthew 25:35-36, NIV). You care for Jesus by caring for the needy (verse 40). The only resume that will count 50,000 years from now is not the one you send to a prospective employer. It is the one that includes your acts of faithful, sacrificial, cheerful service to Jesus and others. #freechristiandiscipleshipresources #freeevangelismresources #freechristianleadershipresources
